Early Voting: Monday, May 2, 2011 thru Tuesday, May 10, 2011

On May 14, 2011, the City of Weslaco will conduct a joint election with the Weslaco Independent School District with a common ballot. Places to appear on the ballot are Weslaco City Commission Single Member Districts 2 and 3 and Weslaco Independent School District Board of Trustees Places 6 and 7.


In response to a citizen’s petition, both entities entered into contract with the Hidalgo County Elections Administration to manage the general election. On Saturday, May 14, the following polling locations will be open 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.:

(a) Polling Place No. 1: Memorial Elementary School, 910 S. 18th Street, Weslaco, Texas, at which Polling Place No. 1 all eligible voters registered in Precincts assigned to this polling location shall vote.
    
(b) Polling Place No. 2: Weslaco Historic City Hall, 500 S. Kansas Avenue, Weslaco, Texas, at which Polling Place No. 2 all eligible voters registered in Precincts assigned to this polling location shall vote.
    
c) Polling Place No. 3: Weslaco Visitor Center, 302 West Railroad, Weslaco, Texas, at which Polling Place No. 3 all eligible voters registered in Precincts assigned to this polling location shall vote
    
(d) Polling Place No. 4: Cleckler-Heald Elementary School, 1601 W. Sugar Cane, Weslaco, Texas, at which Polling Place No. 4 all eligible voters registered in Precincts assigned to this polling location shall vote.
    
(e) Polling Place No. 5: F.D. Roosevelt Elementary School, 306 N. Bridge Avenue, Weslaco, Texas, at which Polling Place No. 5 all eligible voters registered in Precincts assigned to this polling location shall vote.
    
(f) Polling Place No. 6: Airport Drive Elementary School, 410 N. Airport Drive, Weslaco, Texas, at which Polling Place No. 6 all eligible voters registered in Precincts assigned to this polling location shall vote.
    


All eligible voters, regardless of assigned polling locations, may participate in early voting conducted at the Mayor Eugene A. Braught Memorial Theater Meeting Room, located at 525 South Kansas Avenue, Weslaco, Texas 78596, across the courtyard from the library building. This year, Early Voting offers expanded hours according to the following schedule:

Wednesday May 4, 2011 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Thursday May 5, 2011 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Friday May 6, 2011 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Saturday May 7, 2011  8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Monday May 9, 2011 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Tuesday May 10, 2011 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
     



The Early Voting Clerk’s mailing address to which ballot applications and ballots voted by mail should be sent to Ms. Yvonne Ramon, Hidalgo County Elections Administrator, P.O. Box 659, 101 S. Tenth Avenue, Edinburg, Texas 78540. Applications for paper ballot by mail must be received no later than the close of business on Friday, April 29, 2011.
