Parks provides maintenance for City properties, including the City's parklands, facilities, boulevards and municipal building grounds. Parks also assists with special events each year hosted by the City. These include parades, festivals, holiday programs, special gatherings, and dedications. In addition, Parks provides short range planning for parks, landscapes, and other outdoor facilities, including irrigation system design, landscape and park design, park and facility construction management. Recreation plans and administers cultural programs, leisure activities and special events for all age groups within the City and conducts perennial and summer recreation programs, which are coordinated with the residents of Weslaco, athletic organizations, schools and other groups.

City Cemetery

The Cemetery consists of approximately 4,000 grave sites.  This Historical Cemetery has been open since 1921.  The sell of cemetery plots are no longer available.

 Weslaco Cemetery Expansion

It consists of approximately 3,800 new grave sites.  Plots will be sold at $1,000.00 per lot exclusively to City of Weslaco taxpayers and to those persons who have immediate family members buried at the old Weslaco Cemetery.  Purchases of plots are also offered to non-residents at $1,500.00 per plot.  Plus an additional $90.00 for recording fees (Edinburg Court House).

Weslaco resident must show proof of residenance by providing the most Current Property Taxes, Valid I.D. & Water Bill.

Non-Weslaco Resident - $1,500.00

Headstone must be flat and measure either a 24 x 12 or 28 x 16.  Headstone permits are $10 each.
