City Secretary

As per the Weslaco City Charter, the City Secretary is the secretary to the Weslaco City Commission. The City Secretary's duties shall be to keep, record and preserve the minutes and proceedings of the Weslaco City Commission with the power to issue certificates of any proceedings of the governing body; affix the city seal and performs other duties as may be required by the City Charter, the Mayor and City Commissioners.

The City Secretary is responsible for managing, directing, planning, and overseeing the activities of the City Secretary's Office as governed by the Weslaco City Charter, local ordinances, state and federal laws.  As the City's Official Custodian of Records, the City Secretary is responsible for the administration and implementation of the City's Record Management Program as per the Texas Local Government Code, Record Act, Title 6, Subtitle C. Serves as the Election Administrator, conducts and oversees the Mayoral and City Commission Elections; Serves as the City's Local Registrar and Public Information Officer pertaining to all city records.
