UNIFORM PATROL DIVISION
The Weslaco Police Department Uniform Patrol Division is under the administration of Captain JA "Tony" Coronado. Captain Coronado oversees three (3) lieutenants, six (6) sergeants, and twenty-six (26) sworn police officers. The Uniform Patrol Division is directly responsible for responding to all calls for service (emergency/non-emergency), engaging in preventative police patrol, and undertaking aggressive traffic enforcement.
- Each patrol lieutenant is responsible for researching, preventing, and addressing crime and disorder issues occurring during their respective shift hours. Additionally, the patrol lieutenant must report weekly to the Police Administration on their efforts to effectively address and reduce pattern crime and disorder issues.
- Each patrol sergeant is assigned a policing sector, or a business area, and is responsible for preventing and addressing crime and disorder issues occurring within their assigned geographical areas. Moreover, each sergeant must report weekly, to their respective lieutenant, on their efforts to effectively address pattern crime and disorder issues.
- Each patrol officer is assigned a policing sector and is responsible for preventing and addressing crime and disorder issues occurring within their assigned geographical areas. In addition, each patrol officer reports daily to their respective sergeant on specific crime reduction efforts such as traffic/pedestrian contacts in crime hot spot areas, traffic/pedestrian contacts in DDACTS zones, key intelligence gathered, arrests of pattern criminals, etc.
