Newly elected Commissioner Israel Gonzalez and Re-elected Commissioner Adrian Farias are sworn in

On November 17, 2022, The Weslaco City Commission held a special meeting to commence the oath of office for the elected officials. Re-elected City Commissioner for District 4 Adrian Farias, and newly elected City Commissioner At-Large Israel Gonzalez Jr. Additionally, Commissioner JP Rodriguez of District 3 was appointed Mayor Pro Tem, as per policy, for the current fiscal year.

Upon swearing oath to office, re-elected Commissioner Adrian Farias thanked God, his family, and team for all the work the past few months.

“Thank you, God, for this day, for these past three years, for the next four years. To my wife, my kids. I love you girls” he said as he gestured to his family.

“To our administration, to the mayor, to the Commission. Thank you for all we've done the past few years. I'm excited for the next four years, for the project started and those to come. I can't wait, I’m ready to get back to work. To keep moving Weslaco forward.”

Newly elected Commissioner Israel Gonzalez Jr. went ahead and swore his oath, and afterwards shared a few words:

“I'm here to serve Weslaco. I have an open-door policy. So, anybody who needs anything, y'all can reach out. I'm here to serve. I just took my oath. I'm here for you guys and I just want to say God bless you guys and thank you. Thank you, guys, very much for giving me the opportunity to serve Weslaco.”
