Mayor David Suarez and the Weslaco City Commission held a groundbreaking ceremony at Gibson Park on Tuesday, Sept. 27, officially marking the start of the splash pad’s construction.
The splash pad will encompass 1,267 square feet and feature 20 elements. Designed for the whole family, including toddlers, teens, and moms and dads, the splash pad will stimulate imagination and creativity, create a space for safe, unscripted free play and foster long-lasting memories for children and families.
The anticipated competition date for this project is this coming winter, ahead of the coming spring!
Current amenities at Gibson Park include the Valley Nature Center, playground equipment, a basketball court, ping pong tables, cornhole stations, pavilions and more.
